Wet bags and spray hair conditioner/detangler

So we started swim lessons for our daughter (almost 1 year old). I personally have dry hair and love to spray in leave-in conditioner before going swimming (especially since I am allergic to chlorine), and wanted to have something to use for both myself and baby girl. I also wanted a wet bag to keep our towels dry when rinsing off afterward, and a second one to put our wet suits and towels in after swimming. We have now had 2 sessions and these have worked perfect!

I went searching on pinterest - I love all the great ideas I can find here - and found what I needed.
I found a wet bag tutorial here and made a large bag for wet towels as well as a smaller one with the wet material on inside and out to keep towels dry while in the shower rinsing off.

I also found a way to make my own leave-in conditioner which also detangles. This is super easy to make and I made a couple different kinds. The one on the left is using the ingredients from the tutorial I found. I also made the one on the right because my hair gets extremely dry in the winter and this is what I use to help with the moisture.

Travel high chairs

I finally finished the travel high chairs I wanted to make. I made two different types and am excited to try them out. I made one inspired by This Mama Makes Stuff's tutorial first. This is what mine looks like (minus a baby as it is nap time so she is unavailable).

I don't have a chair that this will work on, but I liked the idea of it and plan to use it when I travel to see my parents. They have a high chair we use, however it is a wooden one from when my youngest brother was a baby (he is now almost 22) and my poor daughter slides around in it if we don't line it with towels and use extra long towels to die her down. This will help hold her still in the high chair and I can't wait to try it out!

I also saw a "5 point harness" type travel chair to turn any chair into a high chair and wanted to make one of these as well. The problem was I couldn't find a free tutorial for one. Granted I didn't search for too long before I decided to just come up with my own. I was inspired by this version and this video, and just let my creative juices flow.

The first travel chair took me about 2 nap times to complete. The second took about 3 to complete after I had figured out how I was going to make it. I can't wait to try them out now that they are finished.

Laundry assistance

Ever been frustrated with the washing machine shutting off while trying to load it because the lid puts too much pressure on the knob? I have been frustrated with this lately and decided to figure something out to "fix" this issue. I am fully aware this is a safety mechanism. I am fully aware this "fix" negates that safety mechanism. This means I must pay full attention to what I am doing and make sure I only use this "fix" while actually loading the machine.
This being said, I found a way to avoid the lid hitting the knob while I am loading the machine. I found something that was designed to be placed on the back of an iPad or iPhone to hold it up like a stand. It is called a rubber iStand This works perfect for what I was looking for.

Crazy busy month ahead

Unfortunately, my husband has a busy month (or two) with work and will be traveling a lot. That means I will be home alone with three dogs (one of which is having trouble with a really bad yeast infection in her ear due to allergies) and a teething baby (10 1/2 months old and getting her first two teeth). Add to this a vendor event on April 6th for Posh in another town, a home party for Posh on April 20th in yet another town, starting swimming lessons on April 13th with little miss every Saturday for 5 weeks, and preparing for her first birthday. I am also still working on a few other projects for a couple of my other small jobs I have. I think I am going to have a few craft projects coming along to keep my sanity and keep me occupied while I am missing my husband. Stay tuned for pictures of projects I find to try and keep myself occupied. (My poor husband comes home in the evening and probably wonders 'What did she make today' because I have far too many hobbies and keep finding more or find new projects to try.)
I am very excited for swim lessons with little miss, so the next project I have in mind is yet again something to prepare for that. I have already made a wet bag for our bathing suits, but I will be making a second one (that is water resistant inside as well as outside) to put her towel and robe in and have it with us to shower after swimming so they don't get wet before time to dry off. Since I am allergic to chlorine (and yes, I am a swimmer and was All State in high school - I am a little strange), I figure we will be taking showers after lessons and want to have dry towels so she doesn't get cold afterward.

Nursing cover - updated

Okay, I have wanted a nursing cover that goes all the way around to cover my back as well since I am wearing regular shirts rather than nursing shirts. This means my back is exposed while I nurse. My daughter has also decided it is fun to try pulling the edge of my cover to the point where it uncovers my side and sometimes flashes people if I am not quick enough to stop her. I found this cover and made it with a slight modification to put the neck in the center rather than on the side.
Then I tried using it while eating out and this did not go well for me. I decided to try again but add arm holes so I can use my arms if needed. So this is what I came up with:

Materials:
1 yard Jersey knit fabric
thread
straight pins
scissors

 Lay material out flat (no folds). on the longer sides, mark the center on each end. I measured the arm holes to be 16 inches (8 inches out on each side from the center mark). Roll the edge over and  pin to create a seam.  Sew these sections.

 Once those are sewn, fold material in half. Pin the sides together starting from the bottom of the arm wholes to the end.
Also mark the neck hole in the middle of the fold. I made it 14 inches long, making sure it was equal distance from each end.
Sew the sides together up to the bottom of the arm hole.

Cut an opening in the fold between the pins marking the neck hole.

Pin over both sides of the neck hole and pin.
Sew one side at a time.  I also sewed the ends so there would be no unraveling at the neck area.





I am hoping this will work out much better than the last one. I just need to have my free arm able to come out from under the cover when I am out so it does not pull the cover up when I try to use the free arm.
